The intrigue continues: images of Samsung’s yet-to-be-revealed Galaxy Buds have surfaced. Categories: Technology, Unveiling.
Despite high expectations of a Samsung Galaxy Buds unveiling at the IFA 2023 exhibition, Samsung did not make any such announcements. These earbuds seem to be positioned as an affordable alternative rather than a successor to the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro (pictured above). However, their existence is confirmed, hinting at their imminent arrival. Adding to the excitement, a recent discovery provides a glimpse of their appearance.
For all consumer electronics incorporating radio technology, regulatory approval is mandatory. This requirement often serves as a valuable source of information for unreleased products. The upcoming Galaxy Buds are no exception. According to SamMobile, Samsung has secured certification from regulators in Korea. Notably, their filing includes what appears to be the very first photograph of these new earbuds (shown below).
What do we currently know about these upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds?
While the official name has not been disclosed, it’s believed that these earbuds may be the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3, bearing the model number SM-R400N. If the provided photo accurately represents the final product, Samsung appears to be embracing a more retro design, reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus from 2021. Notably, they seem to incorporate a similar winged design for a secure and comfortable fit.
As previously noted, the most anticipated improvement here is likely to be enhanced noise cancellation, and many are hoping for improved water resistance as well. These earbuds are expected to make their debut at the Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch in early 2024, or possibly even earlier with the introduction of the Galaxy S23 FE, anticipated by the end of 2023, likely before September concludes. Alternatively, Samsung may choose a quieter release, possibly through a press announcement.
Typically, when a product receives regulatory approvals, it signals an impending launch. So, if you’re considering a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, it might be wise to hold off for a bit. If these indeed turn out to be the Galaxy Buds 3, you can anticipate significant discounts on the current model when the new ones hit the market.
